This single-herb formula contains pure, organic curcuma longa (turmeric) rhizome powder (500 mg). While many Ayurvedic herbal formulas contain synergistic blends with multiple ingredients, turmeric is a potent botanical that’s also beneficial all on its own.

Most “turmeric” supplements available today contain curcumin extract—an active ingredient in turmeric—rather than the whole plant. Our formula comes from turmeric in its whole form (which naturally includes curcumin). From the perspective of Ayurveda, the act of isolating a naturally occurring compound from a plant can reduce its naturally balancing benefits, leading to unwanted side effects. Turmeric in its whole form is safe and does not have side effects. It is non-GMO, cruelty-free, vegan, and can be used with other herbal supplements, vitamins, or natural products.
Turmeric is one of the oldest, most important spices known to humankind and has a long history of use in Ayurvedic cooking, herbal formulas, and body care products. When consumed, turmeric is bitter, astringent, and pungent in taste, and has a heating quality. Due to its heating quality, turmeric helps to balance both Kapha and Vata doshas (mind-body types), and due to its bitter taste, it helps to balance Pitta dosha; therefore, it’s tridoshic (balancing for all doshas).
